My Story
I had heard about Scentsy for a few years before I joined. My best friend would share with me how she loved selling this brand and that it would a great opportunity to catch the "Scentsy Bug" by becoming a consultant. I would make up a million and one excuses about why it was not for me such as, “I don’t have time…I’m doing my master’s program right now…I’m not into direct selling…I just had a baby…etc.” You get the point! There was always some reason as to why I should or could not catch the Scentsy Bug. My best friend gladly accepted my responses each time, and she continued to give me Scentsy products every now and then for birthdays, teacher appreciation week, birth of my daughter, house-warming gift, etc. Even with the product in my home and office, I still was not sold. What can I say? I had not caught the “Scentsy Bug” yet. For over two years, I had the ABCs Premium Scentsy Warmer in my classroom and eventually my office melting and giving off this wonderful scent. Candied Red Apple to be exact! Other staff members and even students at times would ask, “What smells so good?” as they passed or entered my classroom/office. I would say nonchalantly, “Oh, it’s just my warmer.” Some folks would ask me more in depth questions about Scentsy, but nothing resonated within me to actual pursue anything further such as hosting a party or even becoming a consultant. It was not until October 2013, when one of my fellow teachers and friend texted me and asked me about the scent I had melting in my warmer. She had bought a warmer that day and wanted to know the scent I had had melting in my warmer. I told her the name, Candied Red Apple, and she then proceeded to tell me how much she loved the warmer she had recently purchased. She asked if my best friend was still selling Scentsy products and if there were any professional sport team warmers. I told her I would look into it and get back to her. After some text messaging exchanges with my best friend, I decided to host a basket party. My best friend sent me all the items I would need such as order forms, catalogs, monthly specials, and mini-testers. I brought in my daughter’s Cupcake Premium Scentsy warmer and melted the wonderful scent, Newborn Nursery. Slowly but surely folks came in, smelled, and purchased. Before I knew it, I’m emailing my best friend for more catalogs and order forms. Who knew?! After hosting the party, I realized this is a great opportunity to sell a great product and meet some new people along the ways. I finally got bitten by the “Scentsy Bug”. After talking with my best friend and the low cost of the starter kit ($99 to be exact), I joined. I received tons of warm welcomes and support from fellow team members! The Scentsy team is positively bursting with wonderful energy that is truly contagious in a great way. I am just starting out on this Scentsy journey, but I like where it is taking me. People have already asked me when I am hosting another party. As I continue on my journey, I hope to meet some new people and to have others become bitten by this Sensational Bug.
